In a perfect world, your business will thrive and you’ll make so much money that you won’t have to worry about paying your rent or bills; however, we do not live in a perfect world. There may be an occasion where you are late in paying your rent or other payments required by your commercial lease.
What is a Right to Cure Provision?
A Right to Cure provision will allow you some leeway before a landlord can claim that you are in breach or default of the lease. We don’t recommend abusing this provision; however, including a Right to Cure clause can alleviate some of the stress that comes with owning and operating a business.
Typically, a Right to Cure provision gives you an additional ten (10) to thirty (30) days to make a past-due rent payment, allowing you to cure the breach and prevent formal lease default.
